@Exodus probably because they have some sort of collaboration , also microsoft actually has early access to unreal engine 5 , they are using it to make hellblade 2 , project mara , everwild etc. so the first instance of an actual game made with ue5 is actually gonna be on xbox and pc.

not really, the tech demo isn't showing of ps5's capabilities , rather it's showing off unreal engine 5's (software's) capabilities, basically they're rendering all the rigid geometry through an entirely new method which makes it more performant , afaik the total memory usage for the rendering of the environment was 768 mb .

@Aleister Tv lumen is raytracing , it just doesn't require any special hardware since it is achieving the same acceleration through methods that aren't as gpu intensive. doesn't make it any less "real".

Literally the most blatant lie I've ever seen. 16 billion tris, yeah right. And yet every game dev tries to reduce poly count in every mesh to match their project requirements, so game wouldn't lag, while here they just slap models directly from zBrush, without retopology, into the game engine and it doesn't lag? Nah, there is ZERO(0) chance this isn't fucking bullshit to boost their stocks so investors feel happy. It's some fucking miracle if they jumped from UE4 to UE5 with this optimisation. It's literally not possible to have this performance, every game engine would become obsolete in comparison. Every 3D modeling software lags when you slightly move one object in 10 million tris scene, lol.

You gotta take in mind that this demo was rendered with a last generation graphic card, and also the new engine optimised certain aspects of rendering process to make it look more smooth and detailed.

The engine automatically optimizes the amount of mesh accordingly to the player position, also it stores the full model in the SSD, so thanks to super fast SSD it can load into memory as needed, Epic Games says Unreal Engine 5 when it debuts on 2021~2022, it will sove some two decade problems.

They said quite clearly this is running in real time on PS5 hardware. Other than Demon's Souls, which is close to this level of detail, there aren't any truly Next gen games. Only thing we have seen so far for the most part are last gen Games with PC settings. Listen to the Mark Cerny rode to PS5 presentation again.

#scam LOL.... the demo is not even 60FPS, it's more like 35 to 40 fps... I hope they fix it before release, right now if I run UE4.26 with a default scene in epic quality, the GPU starts overheating in 10 minutes, and lights are completly broken.
